I sometimes get phone calls and emails from people looking for housing.  I've started this thread to post those contacts to the membership at large.

If they haven't contacted KCMHSAS yet, they should.  KCMHSAS has a housing program that may help.

    Hello!

I have recently relocated back to Kalamazoo after many years and am looking for a "pre-senior" apartment for an immediate move-in.

    This is my situation:

    I am 56 1/2-years old.

In three years, I will begin drawing from my Roth IRA, then applying for my Social Security benefits when I am eligible.

I would like to find a one-bedroom apartment now where I can live long-term.

I have worked as a substitute teacher for the past five years.  I am registered and available to work as a substitute teacher in the Kalamazoo area through EDUStaff.  Since no assignment or income is guaranteed, I am also seeking a full-time job.

I have assets available to pay up to 3-months rent in advance with a cashier's check.

Any advice you can provide for me would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Anne Schmidt
